EPFO's new rules
The EPFO has made a number of changes to their current laws, which members must follow. Following these new rules, corporate employees will have no problem getting paid on time. On the other hand, if someone does not follow the new rules, then the closure of his PF account or the closure of the facility may be a big problem.
PF and Aadhaar linking
Since November 30, 2021, EPFO has made it mandatory to attach Aadhaar to PF's UAN number. Earlier, the EPFO had said that the guidelines would be implemented from June. If a member does not attach Aadhaar to his PF's UAN number, he may get into trouble. In this case, the deposit of the employee may be stopped. He may also be deprived of various benefits. Withdrawals from accounts can be hampered.
Nominees in the PF account
All members of the EPFO are requested to include the names of the nominees in the PF account. That work has to be done by 31st December. Failure to do so will deprive employees of many benefits. Husband or wife, children and elderly parents will not get pension or insurance benefits. In the event of an accident, the dependents of the member will also be deprived of benefits, the EPFO said.
One employee has two PF accounts
By amending the Income-tax Act, the Central Board of Direct Taxes has stated that if the amount of money deposited in an employee's EPF exceeds Rs 2.5 lakh per annum, a second account will be required. This rule has been in effect since September. You have to keep taxable money in one of the two accounts and non-taxable money in the other. The new rules are meant to benefit taxpayers.
Increase in insurance benefits under EDLI scheme
During the second wave of the epidemic, EPFO adopted a policy of increasing insurance coverage to support affected workers. Under this, the benefits of the Employees Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme on behalf of EPFO have been increased from Rs. 6 lakhs to Rs. 7 lakhs. According to the Ministry of Labor, efforts have been made to provide better social security to the workers at no extra cost to the employer. However, the minimum threshold has been kept unchanged at Rs 2.5 lakh.
