'Student credit card Scheme' got clearance in the Cabinet
The 'Student credit card Scheme' is one of the manifestos announced by the Chief Minister of West Bengal Hon'ble Mamata Banerjee in the 2021 Assembly elections.
Earlier, the grant of Krishak Bandhu Scheme was doubled, Duare Ration, Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme was approved by the Cabinet. On 24th June, the 'Student credit card Scheme' was approved by the Cabinet.
Purpose of 'Student credit card Scheme'
Students can apply for the 'Student credit card Scheme' for higher education. Students can take loans for higher education like undergraduate, postgraduate, engineering, MBBS, vocational training, diploma course, doctorate etc.
Students can take loans from any institution in India or abroad with the help of 'Student credit card Scheme'.
With the help of the 'Student Credit Card Scheme', financially backward parents will be able to educate their children in higher education.
When will the 'Student credit card Scheme' be launched?
Application for 'Student Credit Card Scheme' will be launched from 30th June, 2021. You have to apply online for 'Student Credit Card Scheme' on a certain portal.
Loan limit in 'Student credit card Scheme'
With the help of the 'Student credit card Scheme', students will be able to take loans up to Rs 10 lakh.
Validity of 'Student credit card Scheme'
The validity of the 'Student Credit Card Scheme' will be up to 40 years.
Conditions of 'Student Credit Card Scheme'
Anyone who has been living in West Bengal for ten years can apply for the 'Student Credit Card Scheme'.
Guarantor of 'Student credit card Scheme'
The Government of West Bengal will be the guarantor if the students take a loan from any institution with the help of Students Credit Card Scheme.
Interest rate of loan in the 'Student Credit card Scheme'
If you take a loan under the 'Students Credit Card Scheme', you will have to repay the loan at an interest rate of 4%.
How to repay loan in 'Student credit card Scheme'
You have to repay the loan through a soft loan within 15 years of taking the loan.

Government guidelines have already been issued for the appointment of one nodal officer for each 'Student credit card Scheme' from each education center.

(a) Colour Photograph of the applicant (should be in jpg / jpeg between 50 KB and 20 KB)
(b) Colour Photograph of the co-applicant / co-borrower (should be in
.jpeg / .jpg format, between 50 KB and 20 KB)
(c) Signature of the student (should be in .jpeg / .jpg format, between 50 KB and 10 KB)
(d) Co-borrower / Guardian’s signature (should be in .jpeg / .jpg, format, between 50 KB and 10 KB)
(e) Student’s AADHAR Card (should be in .pdf format, between 400 KB
and 50 KB)

Online Registration:
Visit www.wb.gov.in or https://banglaruchchashiksha.wb.gov.in
and click STUDENT CREDIT CARD tab or Log in to
https://wbscc.wb.gov.in Click on REGISTRATION OF
STUDENT form option, fill up the Registration of Student form
and then Click on Register button to generate user id and
password.
