What is Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme?

As promised, this time Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took the initiative to implement the 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme' with the financial help of women from poor families. A few days ago, the state cabinet approved the 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme'. After increasing the allowance of "Krishak Bandhu Scheme" , Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has started implementing 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme' with the financial help of women from poor families as promised in the Assembly election campaign. According to sources, the Chief Minister has given the responsibility of 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme' like 'Kanyashree' to the Department of Women and Social Welfare. It has been initially decided that the 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme' will cost around Rs 11,000 crore a year.



Who will get financial help in the 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme'?

Initially funds are being allocated for the 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme' from the Finance Department. It will benefit 1 crore 60 lakh women of the family. One woman from each family will benefit from the 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme'. Ordinary family will get 500 rupees per month. If you are a Scheduled Caste(SC) or Scheduled Tribe(ST) family, you can get 1 thousand rupees per month.


When will the 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme' be launched?

The Department of Women and Social Welfare has already finalized the work of creating a database for these women. According to administration sources, the Chief Minister wants to launch the 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme' in July,2021.


Women of which family get financial help from 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme'?

The Chief Minister formed a task force headed by the Chief Secretary to work out the economic criteria of those families in terms of administration. The task force has tasked the Department of Women's Welfare to create a database for the 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme'.


According to sources, there are about 57 lakh BPL families in the state. Many people from this BPL family get various benefits in addition to the state government's widow allowance and old age allowance. The list includes people from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBC families. Again, many women who are not listed in the BPL but are members of poor families get the benefits of these allowances, but many do not. The state government wants to provide financial assistance keeping in mind all the needy families. The Chief Minister wants to hand over that assistance directly to the women of the house.


Who will not get the benefit of 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme'?


Some women will not get this benefit.

Those whose family pays Income Tax or who owns 2 hectares of land will not get the benefit of 'Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme'.
