The West Bengal state government has announced interest rates on provident funds for state government employees in Corona.  The interest rate of the Provident Fund from 1st July to 30th September has remained the same for two more months.  The state government has declared the interest rate unchanged till 31th December .


According to a notification issued by the state government's finance department, all state government employees will get interest in the provident fund at the rate of 7.1 per cent from 01-10-2020 to 31-12-2020.  Earlier, state government employees received interest at the same rate from July to September.


From January 1, 2020 to March 31, 2020, the GPF interest rate was 7.9 percent. From April 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020, interest is charged at 8.1 percent per annum on all Provident Accounts under the State Government.



GPF interest rate remained unchanged for 9 consecutive months.

The interest rate was announced in the last quarter by issuing a notification on 23rd January.

GPF interest rate changes on a quarterly basis.In that case, the interest rate on GPF last year was around 8 percent.State government employees get GPF interest at the rate of central government employees.State government employees are required to keep 6% of basic salary in GPF.

Money is deducted from the salary and deposited in this fund.

However, government employees can keep the entire basic salary in the GPF fund if they want.
