Mandatory to link Aadhaar number and nominee with PF account.
Many employees do not know that there is an insurance facility in the Provident Fund account. But who will get the insurance money, many employees do not register the name of the nominee in advance. But according to the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) rules, PF members have to announce their nominees in advance. No one has to rush for this. The name of the nominee can be linked online with the PF account. The EPFO had earlier warned the employees about this and asked them to announce the name of the nominee by December 2021.
To get all the benefits of Provident Fund, not just the name of the heir, you must add the Aadhaar number to the UAN number. The EPFO had earlier said it was mandatory. Last September 30 was fixed as the last day. After that it increased to 30 November and then 31 December. Therefore, those who have not yet done these two things should attach the Aadhaar number online and register the name of the nominee by December.
An employee can use the money deposited in the Provident Fund at leisure. But when he dies, the family gets the money. For this reason, the EPFO has asked the employees to register the names of their spouses or children. Not just one, employees can add the names of more than one nominee if they want.
There is no need to pay for the insurance benefits that EPFO provides to employees. Maximum insurance of seven lakh rupees without any installment. Earlier, the sum insured was Rs 600,000. Since April 2021, it has been seven lakh rupees. However, this insurance does not have to be registered separately. This insurance is automatically started. And if all goes well, the insurance money goes directly to the employee's bank account.
