 Schools and colleges in West Bengal have been closed for a long time due to lockdown. The number of drop out students is increasing. The state government has given permission to open fairs, games and other activities but has not shown any interest in opening schools. Although the state government is talking about free online education, students have to bear the cost of mobile and internet. A public interest litigation has been filed in the Chief Justice's Division Bench in the High Court over the return of drop-out students to schools and reopening of schools and colleges. A hearing is expected this week. The case was filed by Sion Banerjee. According to the plaintiff, education is a fundamental right. But many are practically deprived of education. At present students are studying through internet. But who will provide the money? The plaintiff Sion Banerjee raised that question.

According to the current pension rules of the West Bengal State Government, pensioners and family pensioners can withdraw their pensions from the pension accounts of the respective banks through checks or withdrawal slips of those banks. As per previous notification, pension withdrawal facility was not provided using ATM / debit card or using net banking. However, considering the current pandemic situation, the issue of pension withdrawal using ATM / Debit Card or Net Banking is under consideration of the State Government.
